Echoes

I know nothing about Jenn Grant, just heard this song that I thought was a Cat power`s ( compliment ) and realized it was hers from her last album “Echoes”. Listen to Heartbreaker on Sixeyes

Goldmund

June 22nd, 2009

From what I have gathered, Goldmund is an experimental classical project from Keith kennif, mainly ambient piano a la Harold Budd project. It is beautiful, minimal, full of meaningful silence ( and I am not being cynical ).

JBM

June 22nd, 2009

JBM is Canadian Jesse Marchant, a singer-songwriter who I have heard on various film soundtracks. “Not Even In July”, his new recording venture will hopefully change this, as this is the real deal and could easily become one of those acoustic troubadors like Jose Gonzales. I have chosen this song I have heard on Some velvet, a blog I like. This song sounds like a newer production of Leonard Cohen, don’t mean to upset nobody but I truely love his sound.

Lewis & Clarke

June 21st, 2009

….”Lewis & Clarke is the nom de plume of Lou Rogai and collaborators. The moniker has been described as metaphor for journey on many levels; musical, spiritual, and physical. Rogai is quoted by Daytrotter.com describing the project as “a vessel crafted for many, but operable alone if need be.” The name is also a reference to the fellowship and correspondence between C.S. Lewis and Arthur C. Clarke. Rogai is credited as composer/musician/songwriter as well as founder of La Société Expéditionnaire, an artist-based cooperative record label dedicated to exposing the wild and/or fragile music of colleagues”….A bio of their web page – we like that sound and tunings.

High on low anthem

June 21st, 2009

I love this new album by the low Anthem. It`s called ” oh my god, Charlie Darwin”. This band is coming from the inspiring town of Providence, Rhode Island. For those of you that were never there, this place is highly recommended. I Just spent the weekend there. I could see this song played there in the winter, although it is by the ocean, the scene I have imagined is a grey wintery freezing day when the town is empty and you are sitting drunk in a bar. Check out what they wrote on their myspace page: “…new songs that come from old songs. vibe. providence, RI. typewriters. folk art. corn-dogs. mini-van. gospel influence. wood bats. old-time headwear. not jaded: music that is music. not an advertisement. word of mouth. drink of mouth. Bourbon”…
