How to fight loneliness

July 3rd, 2009

No, I am not talking about that wonderful Wilco song. It seems like Christopher Owens and Chet JR White AKA Girls have found a better way if to judge by the picture above. But as for the song, the s… works. This Paul Anka like serious parody sounds real good, this goofy like little song works.

The living room session

July 2nd, 2009

This is what this site is all about: music, simplicity, honesty, great feel and awesome living room performance: Check out Cedarwell AKA Erik Neave and the band, The Daredevil Christopher Wright live in Laundromatinee`s Dodge`s living room. Check out the dry, small soulful sound and you`ll understand what I`m talking about. This is very special to me

The octopus project

July 2nd, 2009

The Octopus project – “A group of young noise-rock musicians moves into a old, ghost-filled house and sets up shop. Though the spooks are at first rattled by the blasts of guitar feedback and unhinged drummery, they soon begin to share their own beautiful, otherworldly melodies with the band and discover a musical common ground”. I and love and you

July 2nd, 2009

..”The songs are honest: just chords with real voices singing real melodies. But, the heart and the energy with which they are sung, is really why”…. This is the music of “The Avett brothers” , especially their song ” I and love and you “

July 2nd, 2009

The first thing they say on their myspace .. ” love is an exuse to hurt and to get hurt”…I guess they should stick to making music cause it is so much better than their truths.

Today`s ghost

July 2nd, 2009

Sophie Hunger, who grew up in London, Germany and Switzerland, released her first home recorded album „Sketches on Sea” in 2006, by simply handing it around among friends in Zürich. This collection of songs spread instantely becoming a somewhat underground cult hit and was accompanied by sold out live performances.
Six months after her first recordings you would find her playing in Paris’ “Bataclan” with Stephan Eicher, in Prag’s “Acropolis” with Erik Truffaz and in London’s “Luminaire” with The Young Gods. In 2008 she independently released her first studio album „Monday’s Ghost” which is finally distributed throughout Europe

All is wild, all is silent

July 2nd, 2009

I have heard this quite amazing band called Balmorhea. The have released an album couple of months ago called “All is wild all is silent”. I`ll play you a track of this album. I have just found out they are releasing a collection of remixes of this album by all those wonderful artists we love, most of them we have written about:”… Over the past 6 months we have been working with some dear friends and have compiled a recording of 11 artists remixing the song of their choice from the album. Each artist was given the session files and let loose to create or recreate the piece of their choice. The results are wonderfully varied and each quite amazing. Being released in August on Western Vinyl digitally and limited run of 2XLP, the album features: Eluvium, Rafael Anton Irisarri, Tiny Vipers, Bexar Bexar, Machinefabriek, The Fun Years, Library Tapes, Jacaszek, Helios, Peter Broderick and Xela”….

Super Fly

July 2nd, 2009

I guess I don’t have to introduce you this guy, but if I do – Curtis Mayfield was a funk and Afro American music pioneer who has influenced so many funk soul and hip hop creators for many years and still does so. I have heard this song by him and was amazed how funky soulful and timeless it sounds.
