Phono phono

October 31st, 2009

While in Berlin I have found this €5000 a turntable store. Phono phono is an unbelievable place, and I had to take some photos to show you what a nice system you could buy if you had that kind of money. Too bad you couldn’t hear the heavenly sound….. YOU GOT TO SEE THESE PHOTOS

Saltlands studio

October 30th, 2009

Came across that name while listening to this indie band produced by Eli Janney. Saltlands Studio is an independent recording facility collectively operated by folks in Brooklyn, NY. It was born within a thriving community of musicians, producers, and engineers in the waterfront area of Dumbo, including an extensive rehearsal space infrastructure. The gear in the studio has been chosen with a selectivity gained from the years of professional experience of the Saltlands partners. The palette of equipment includes Neve, Neumann, Studer, and other desirable studio attributes. They run Saltmines as well. The Saltmines is a community of musicians and artists who are committed to providing affordable space in NYC. Started in 2000, the Saltmines have been renovating low-rent commercial space to make it suitable for art and music studios. In NYC, as you may know, very difficult to find large, affordable, clean, and secure rehearsal and studio space. There is a link of selected projects that were recorded at Saltlands. Emanuel and the fear

October 25th, 2009

This song is so beautiful, I have listened to it all day. “The rain becomes the clouds” by Emanuel and the fear.
With a sound that derives itself from composers and songwriters across the board, Emanuel & the Fear is an extraordinary 11-piece orchestra-rock band that focuses on intertwining the modern day pop song with extravagant and complex composition.   Emanuel & the Fear are currently recording their full-length album at Ishlab Music Studios (Jet, Kudu, and Dead Prez) and are comprised of members who have played/toured with Sufjan Stevens, The National, Akron/Family, and Bryan Scary & the Shredding Tears.

Brooklyn based quartet Gunfight! describes their sound as “post-country”, we describe it as fast furious country cowboy punk. Expect heavy guitar riffs, booming rapid-fire drums and howling vocals culminating in a kick-ass EP.”   All_you_need

Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson is a multi-instrumentalist and boy wonder with a million different projects under his belt. His musical style spans so many different types of genres that it was really cool to watch those influences switch back and forth. He is a musical genius, truly amazing and has all the potential to become the next Beck/ Eels…
