Find out the reason Moon duo has inspired us so.
Tinariwen is one of my favorite bands, a mixture of Touareg poetry and song to the radical chaabi protest music of Moroccan groups like Nass El Ghiwane and Jil Jilala, and the Algerian pop rai to western rock and pop artists like Elvis Presley, Led Zeppelin, Carlos Santana, Jimmy Hendrix and Bob Marley. They sound to me like The talking heads Remain in light masterpiece album with desert Algerian rai. This is another Vincent Moon masterpiece that I have found on his site

Kathryn Williams on her new song Just a Feeling, out on One little Indian, May 17th: Taken from her eighth studio album ‘The Quickening’ (and her first for new label One Little Indian), Kathryn explains the genesis of the song: “I wrote ‘Just A Feeling’ in the back of a car driving in LA. We were going up a big hill listening to – I can’t remember – but it was melancholic. Out of the window was the Hollywood sign and below us, lines of tall palm trees in really straight lines. The sadness of the song sounded more like a sleepy sunbather in this bleaching sun. I couldn’t believe the traffic. Coming in to LA the roads looked like molten lava, just wide moving rows of lights in the dark. “Our car in 20 million like a ghost.” Being away from people you love in such a vast city makes you ask yourself things, “Is belief a scratch you’ve got to itch, what if love is just a feeling?”
Sleepy Sun Premiere “Fever” Details On Stereogum, Unveil Cover Art & Tracklisting / ATP/R To Release 10″ Sampler Featuring Sleepy Sun, APSE, & Built To Spill + US Tour With Arctic Monkeys / Sophomore LP Out June 1st On ATP/R (Digitally May 18th)Friday, March 26th, 2010
Sleepy Sun is a California band from many Californias. They hail from the rolling oak and sage hills of Sierra Gold Country, The San Francisco Peninsula, where Kesey raged and the Dead were once Warlocks, and the forever-sunshine climes of the Southland. They came together—young and garage strutting in the coastal Northern California crucible of Santa Cruz. And there they birthed the Sleepy sound—dead blues shaken alive, razor sharp and ramblin’, soul, sonic science and dead-on pop surgery. Wooden, earthy, stratospheric, and swinging…California music of beautiful contrasts for conflicted times.
Now, two records into a frighteningly fast-blossoming evolution, Sleepy Sun are a living machine of fire and focus. Their first release on ATP records Embrace illuminated the golden path to Sleepy land—hard-riffing, delicate, dreamy and cultivated. The latest ATP release, Fever, is arrival at the palace the path promised.

Had to write about this guy. I know its a pop song, but it reminds me of a good Steve Winwood song, and if that`s the case, its worth writing about.
Grovesnor aka Rob Smoughton, drummer for UK electro-pop outfit Hot Chip and glitch-troubadour in his own right, has announced the debut of his solo album, ironically titled Soft Return, on May 25th through Lo Recordings. Grovesnor blends silky vocals with retro synth melodies. The ensuing mix is wholly distinctive: smooth and mellow with a synthetic edge, a sweet face obscuring a broken heart. It has echoes of Hall and Oates, Steely Dan, and Billy Joel, updated with electronic elements to bring new life to some old favorites.
Download the radio edit of his first single, “Taxi From the Airport,” and see for yourself!
