Gem Club is music, made by Christopher Barnes and his collaborators, cellist Kristen Drymala, and vocalist Ieva Berberian. Currently, they live in Massachusetts. Following their self-released six-song EP, ‘Acid and Everything’, Gem Club have made Breakers, a debut full-length released through Hardly Art. Simply beautiful.
The Tel Aviv museum has commissioned experimental music from us few years ago for a multimedia show based around Mahler`s 5th symphony. We have titled this project ‘Mahleria’ and used analogue tape only, pretending we stil live in the pre digital sample heaven era. These are pieces of actual analogue audio tape spliced and then taped back together and we are proud to represent you with a flowing soundscape, 3 pieces we have decided to name Mahleria 1-3. Now availavle on Bandcamp as a digital download..
Many consider Norman Mclaren as the greatest film animator of all time and his work is what has inspired Jonti to make such music. Jonti explains, “His films are complex, but they’re still fun. You can feel his enthusiasm for techniques and experimentation. I try make simple pop songs with that same mentality.” Jonti’s debut album ‘Twirligig’ will be released on October 11 on Mistletone/Inertia in Australia/New Zealand, and Stones Throw Records in the US.
What starts off as an off keyish John Barry intro, quickly turns into a Mogwai style track, with kick ass guitars, some kinda of a more hardcore Cure type of shiit..
Stefan Pedatella doesn’t need subtitles. It is not the first time we mention those Brooklyn boys, Translations, and the moment you`ll hear Pigeon Suit`s guitar riff, you would understand where they come from and after being introduced to previous tracks like ‘The wanderer’ and ‘Tarantella’, we could tell you where they are heading to. We love ‘Pigeon suit’ 60`s garage R&B rockish flavor and we look forward to be hearing a whole album cause this track sounds like a good old Stones song.
