Russian Classical guitar monster Artyom Dervoed was in Israel couple of weeks ago to attend an international guitar competition. He was kind enough to lend us few hours In between different stages of the competition and we tried to make a “Vincent Moon” style clips with him outdoors, in a gorgeous orchard which belongs to my wife’s family. This project couldn’t take place without the help of producer/ PR lady, Kerem Miron.

I have been receiving lots of new great tapes from Kerem Miron, an extremely hard working PR lady I have known for awhile now, one of them is Arnon Naor’s, AKA Sun Tailor, an Israeli singer songwriter, who is back in his home land after a long stay in London, where he wrote most of his debut album titled ‘Like the tide’ , and recorded it in a bedroom converted studio. The process took 3 years to finish, produced by Arnon and his brother Udi. My favorite track is Fay.
Polish musician Michal Jacaszek’s latest album, ‘Glimmer’, (Ghostly international – available December 6th ) is a beautiful mixture of the pure and the ragged. “I built a kind of curtain out of dirts and fuzzes, and used pure sound of clarinet and harpsichord playing beautiful melodies as a contrast to its harshness.”

Its Hannah Baker again but this time she has introduced us to a heavyweight: Milwaukee’s latest export is Nineteen-year-old Andy Petr. Petr was signed by Mixpak Records, which recently released his newest project, “Rapper Turned Singer.” Andy is one of the most creative electronic musicians I have heard in quite some time, mixing IDM, Hip hop, Acid house and succeeding in sounding so mature despite his young age. Maybe its because he is using electronic music techniques as a tool to make art and magic, unlike so many Electronic musicians that think technique and equipment is the essence of it all. While playing live, he is equipped with a Macbook, MPC and a Roland SH-101, and everything he does is live with no backing tracks. Listen to this guy, and you’ll get my drift right away.
Got this mail today: “My name is Andrea Vascellari and I play slowcore under the moniker of Lullabier. My new album has just been published by the Italian label Oltrelanebbiailmare. Previously, some of my songs apperared in a couple of Xmas Compilations published by the US label Silber Records.”
I have listened to ‘Calliope’, the first track of this album and loved it. Loved the simple clean guitars and vocals although didn’t understand a word cause its being sung in Italian. Reminds me of a local singer I like ( Fortis ) that has this same writing quality and style. To Purchase the album click HERE
From the label that is ‘making monsters out of pretty things since the golden age of cassettes’ – Field Hymns, a new tape by Zac Nelson titled “Towards Your Own Worlds” – you are invited to a wild synthesis trip, especially on the closing track, my favorite. Cassette with download is out November 1st.
