Recreation in Sleep AKA WE are Van Peebles AKA Wonderboy know what they are doing. This is a mixture of someone that listened to Neil Young and makes his bedroom music now, and we have been listening to his beautiful music since it was released 2 days prior to my birthday so I consider it a b’day gift.
This is an extraordinary session recorded at Yaniv Hakim’s home studio in Tel-Aviv, Israel with the amazing Rajasthani musicians: Munshi khan, Chugge Khan and Nihal Khan. Munshi Khan was killed in a car accident last September. Yaniv is now publishing the album on the internet where all proceeds go to Munshi’s family which is in need of some urgent cash right now. We’ll keep you posted about this one and you are more than welcome to contact Yaniv through his Facebook page
What a beauty, Norm Fetter is into exotic mushrooms. I kid you not. He has moved with his family to the countryside to a farm where he grows wild exotic mushrooms, I guess for deeper meaning.. Under project name Enumclaw he makes magical music and has just released an EP titled ‘Gneiss Dreams’. Magical..
Jakub Alexander – the music curator for ISO50 had asked friends/ musicians to come up with last minute holiday cover songs for his blog. This collection of songs has been curated out of the 300 artists and tracks we have covered throughout the year. This has been more or less my iPod’s most abused playlist, and the magical number that we have come up with, are those songs that have accompanied us for the longest time. Those of you that will dig deeper, will realize that our heart belongs to lofi minimalistic bedroom music and we are always on the search for musicians that succeed in making inspiring music within the limitations of their homes or bedroom and despite of the fact they had no budget . SONG ORDER IS PRETTY MUCH MEANINGLESS, allthough we have placed the artists you are most likely to know at the top spots.
We wish you a Merry Christmas, a Happy Chanukah, a Joyous Kwanzaa, and a Happy New Year…and we hope next year will be as inspiring and rewarding as this one.
Alessio says:”..In typical banjo tradition here’s my xmas album for the year. It features 9 songs that you might have heard before or not and it comes a little later because I wasn’t really going to do a xmas album this year but then since I was sick at home for the last week I decided to have a go at it. Being ill I wasn’t really able to sing but then it’s not that I am that great of a singer anyway. (In ‘Winter wonderland’ you can really hear my voice breaking and dying but I thought that was quite funny to hear!) This year’s album is quite different from the previous ones… some of these songs are way less popular than the ones I’ve covered before and in general this one is a bit more ‘crazy’ but I think it goes quite well with the other two…I had fun doing it. I hope you’ll enjoy it!”
If you love falsetto, Peter Silberman and ‘Hospice’ by The Antlers I know you are going to dig ‘Flutter’ by Baltimore duo The Sayitaints. Available for free download HERE
