This is a multimedia project the Tel Aviv Museum has ordered from me years ago, the theme was Mahler’s 5th, so I had put together these 3 pieces, 2 of which you could listen to here, titled it Mahleria, limited myself to using reel to reel tape loops, and fucked around with those. This is the result; Mahleria 1 and 3.

Got to repost this beauty, after listened to it premieres on NFOP. ‘Ghosts’ is Such a touching piece be A dancing beggar, and it takes me to ‘Albert Nobbs’, the incredible movie I have seen the other day, a monument for pain, loneliness, an observation from such a distant place, and this piece is a better soundtrack for that movie than the original one, and its title ‘Ghosts’, seems to be named after the ghostly life of Albert…may his tortured soul rest in piece now…

Another Melody

May 7th, 2012

If you list Robert Wyatt as an influence I will listen to your stuff. Only one problem; You aim real high. I guess Melody’s Echo Chamber knows what she is doing, cause from the very first moment when this distorted beat kicks in, you know someone is taking good care of you, might be Kevin Parker of The Tame Impala hall of fame (recorded and mixed by him in Perth and at her grandparents’ beach house in Cavalière in France). I dig this first experience, coming out this fall on the label that brings you another influence of hers, Spiritualized. “Crystallized” will be released on 7″ via Fat Possum later this year. She will also be touring the US this Fall. photo by Matthew Saville

Melody Elder is the debut tape release by Pittsburgh-based The Garment District, the new musical project of multi instrumentalist Jennifer Baron, who was a founding member of Brooklyn‘s The Ladybug Transistor (Merge Records). A dreamy lofi bedroom naïve charm., a great gift for someone you know who wants to drift away..a collage of cheap funky little synths, experimentation, nursery themes with appearances by Jennifer’s cousin Lucy Blehar on lead vocals, Jowe Head on bass. There is something real fresh about this record, just sit back, light up whatever youre smoking and let it carry you away…don’t fight it..Purchase the record HERE

Skin in Circles

May 5th, 2012

How Could you stay on three chords for more than six minutes and still be an innovator? Tell you the truth..If I knew, I would have done the same, but I could assure you its not easy as it might sound, and I really dig ‘Skin in Circles’ from ‘With Endless Fir’e by Ilyas Ahmed, which is his first full-length release since his 2009’s Goner. Over the last couple years, he has released a 12-inch with his Portland buddy Liz Harris (Grouper), a split with Steve Gunn, and a 10-inch called Live At On Land. Now he is premiering the video for this incredible track by art director Julia Blackburn.

Neon Lights

May 5th, 2012

Ira Rat’s last november’s Neon Lushell’s album sounds like the birth of a new and fresh Slim Twig meets The Caretaker meets Zola Jesus Meets Sun Araw, you know, this dark, rough, violent, a passive semi active aggression clearly evident. My favorite track is ‘Cellar Door’, and I really recommend it to all of you, even the sensitive ones. Buy it HERE or HERE

Digital Natives

May 5th, 2012

This type of shit is the main reason for me to do what I do with Lofiles. I am sure some of you dont get it..But I find what Jeffry Astin is doing truly inspiring, with his new baby, Digital Natives, and I cant really explain why. I guess a big part of it is the repetitive and hypnotic character of this project, something I use as sort of mantra, it carries me away, and takes the internal constant noise away. This is a killer tape guys, and you should hurry up and grab your Space slave Editions right away: Home-duplicated on Sony TC-WE475 on type ii chrome cassettes, hand-painted j-cards, every sticker hand-cut featuring different art, ed. of 50. All for 14$.

Fear of Men

May 3rd, 2012

Just received a mail from FOM. Allthough might be little poppy for us, I really like it. Fear of Men return with the 7” ‘Green Sea’, released on London’s Sexbeat (Fresh & Only’s, No Joy, White Fence) on the 18th of June and limited to 300 copies. The single was recorded in a basement studio in Wandsworth in early 2012 and features a musical saw, backwards guitar solo and layers of backing vocals processed through a near dilapidated Echo Chamber. The band are touring the UK with Best Coast in June.
