Duece

July 19th, 2012

I have been scrolling through recent posts and realized that Lofiles has really turned out to be the soundtrack of my life, live, in real time. It seems like I am constantly searching for tone, or sound, for those scenes and sights of life, my existence. While going back in time, I have been observing, like a bystander, as if spying on someone else’s life, smelling the scent of turbulence, a spectator to the relentless pursuit, feeling all those uncovered sensations, and tasting the sadness, happiness, pain, loneliness and love, sensing the fear. Despite of the fact this journey has turned out to be extremely personal, and intimate, I am very pleased to share it with you…..and almost forgot..this track too

Memoir

July 15th, 2012

I am in a nostalgic 80’s mood today. After sharing with you an 80’s sounding Malka Spigel track earlier tonight, I have received this real fun track by a band called Goodbye Labrador, titled Memoir, featuring tasteful guitars riffs and vocals that reminds me of Bernard Sumner (of the New Order and Electronic hall of fame). After a quite hectic and exhausting day, I have played Memoir a few times, and forgot…

Releases

July 15th, 2012

Every weekend, my mail boxes explode with PR notes, new releases updates and notifications, music news, and loads of tracks I receive for reviewing purposes. I have decided to share 2 of my weekend favorites with you . The first track was sent to me by Andrew Hamlet, sharing his latest Pressed And Mush records release, ‘Hyper Thistle’, a breakbeat chopped vocal track that works out perfectly as a soundtrack to my agitated spirit. The second track is a nice surprise from a longtime acquaintance, Malka Spigel, (Minimal Compact), who is about to release ‘Every Day Is Like The First Day’ (September 4 On Pink Flag).

Every Day Is Like The First Day features Malka Spigel, Colin Newman (husband, Wire), and number of collaborators including Andy Ramsay (Stereolab; Press Play), Johnny Marr (The Smiths; Modest Mouse; The Cribs) and Matthew Simms (It Hugs Back; Wire) among many others.

13th

July 13th, 2012

Overall Meltdown. That’s how I felt this week. I guess I have overabused my CPU and it got heated up real bad. Its hard to cool it off considering today is one of the hottest days of summer and humidity marks new records. Got to pace myself, set my priorities straight, and shift to lower gear. Music allows me to do this. And today, by the way, Fri 13th, John Kolodij and his HIGH AURA’D help me through this, cooling everything down, till I’ll find myself in the arms of someone…special…extremely special..BUY the record HERE

Phone Call – The Alessandro Coronas Lofiles mixtape

July 12th, 2012

Our dear friend and ultra talented musician Alessandro Coronas has hit us again with such a unique project, a different kind of mixtape. The idea behind it is to bring it to you as a whole, with a story behind, or just to create a certain feel, vibe, or state of mind. As Alessandro explained it to me; …”it’s called “phone call”. To recap the idea is to have a story that sneaks underneath every mixtape .. few words. now it’s about a girl who makes a phone call in russia. You don’t know who’s on the other side of the line”.. Now, there are some great artists that participate on this mixtape, but there is a wider idea behind it; When you listen to this mixtape you don’t really care for the small detail, it’s the beautiful dreamy overall sound and mood of it, that just carries you far far away, to the trip AC took you to.

Why steal? Actually, Why not?

July 9th, 2012

Jib Kidder Steals guitars. actually, its a harsh word, so lets say he borrows. Besides, its not guitars, just guitar parts. He samples all those country and spaghetti westerns, rootsy American guitar parts, that actually could fit perfectly on a Tarantino movie, and turns this frantic mixture into funk heaven. As he states on his bandcamp page, he has been creating new junk out of existing junk for the past 15 years. He got the Midas touch for funk, manipulating those breakbeats and turning them into his own. Using all those cheesy bits and pieces as an instrument, and mastering this art in such a creative manner, turning his music to an upgraded Wiseguys version. While playing his ‘Steal guitar’ record (released few months ago), I had a feeling this record reflects my life right now. There is something so meaningful for me about this organized clolorful mayhem, and it truly fits the frenzied mood I am in right now, plus, I find it ultra inspiring. Incredible, my friends.

Self Titled

July 7th, 2012

Its burning. July is on the move. So humid and sticky. I hate it. I always visualize hell that way, with no colors, all faded. But, and it is a meaningful but, something carries me big time, lifts me up, higher and higher, feels me with hope, turns my anxiety to anticipation, and helps me ignore the sweat that’s poring down my spine. I am being taught right now, and I know, although it’s a long way from graduation, its worth the long wait. And for this stretched moment, as a perfect soundtrack, I put on ‘Self Titled’, Men in Burka’s latest. Men in Burka is the latest project of Kamran Khan “the Ramadan-Dadaist from Denver” who is best known for his work with indie art electronic group Modern Witch.
