Gonna get u

September 29th, 2012

Don’t let the Thompson Twins intro scare you off. ‘Gonna get her’ by Psychic Twin is gonna get you. No doubt about that. Even if a tad poppy I am sure you’ll appreciate it, and definitely dig the gorgeous video.

Inner Mansions

Teen Daze’s ‘Garden 2’ off his up & coming album ‘The Inner Mansions’ is a perfect soundtrack for a weekend’s warm welcome, when all you wish for is to be able to come down, relax, take a deep breathe, recharge your batteries for another struggle.

Nosaj Redhead

September 20th, 2012

I love Nosaj Thing. I love his sound, style, basically everything he does. Saw him live and was blown away. This Blonde Redhead remix is dddddope, sexy MF, better than the original. Check this mother out.

Appalachia

September 20th, 2012

The 2nd single, “Appalachia”, off Chelsea Wolfe’s haunting 3rd album, Unknown Rooms is a tragic folk ballad, brimming with devastating repetitive guitars, bass & drums & also featuring a beautiful string section that brings despair, hope & love to the song when accompanied with Ms. Wolfe’s voice. Stream it below.

Earlimart

September 19th, 2012

Earlimart’s System Preferences is a lush and lovely soundtrack for a sad, beautiful world. It’s an album that touches on disillusionment with and acceptance of technology, complex relationships, and lost weekends. The Los Angeles-based duo of Aaron Espinoza and Ariana Murray retain tones and textures familiar to fans of the band’s six previous albums of whispering and stomping indie rock, but they’ve grown as songwriters and producers. From familiar sonic waters they embark on a journey that allows them to get lost — with the novel excitement that entails. System Preferences is their sonic dead reckoning resulting in a joyous return to the band’s Californian port of call. System Preferences sounds like Earlimart without sounding like any other Earlimart album. It will be released on the band’s own label, The Ship, digitally on Sept. 18 and Oct. 16 on CD and LP.

Unbound

September 18th, 2012

Heart Of Hearts’ is the solo work of Greg Hatem. The Baltimore-based project began recording in 2010 in a residential warehouse space onto a dusty old 8-track tape machine. Two years later, Hatem has traded in his worn tape heads for shiny new digits to produce his new album, My Society. The album focuses on Hatem’s experience as an aviculturist, breeding and caring for finches and doves. I really love this song. It has this Peter Gabriel vibe that I really dig.”Egg binding is one of the most distressing ailments that a bird can suffer. When a hen is egg-bound, an egg is literally stuck inside of her. Many hens die when they are unable to pass an egg. Heart Of Hearts’ new single, “Unbound,” is a reflection on a close call — the feeling of relief when the egg passes, but anxiety about the next egg forming”.
