Apse
In the fall of 2007, Apse`s Michael Gundlach and Bobby have moved to the shores of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. This has started a new era for this great band. 2 Brooklyn based members have left, and Michael and Bobby have teamed up with local multi instrumentalist Jed Armour, who introduced them to drummer Brandon Collins.
At the end of the year, ATP records is going to release Climb up, an album recorded at the band members homes as demos, rearranged and mixed later on by Bobby, Jed and Michael.
I have started listening to this extremely versatile album this morning. A mixture of pop, rock, electronic, progressive in the vein of progressive bands from the 70`s that their record tells a story, haunting melodies and arrangements. Great guitar parts and sounds, great sounding keys .The use of reverbs, delays and effects is very musical and chosen for a reason – within the context of the musical idea. I chose to share with you this gorgeous song called Lie, a slower song, perfect for a wintery day such as today, dreaming about the shores of Cape Cod at this time of the year. This album is one of the best albums I have listened to since listening to The Antlers Hospice.
Director Lance Drake took 3.1, of Climb up, and shot a video clip at the bands attic. You could see the energy of Apse live with glimpse to the Cape Cod views outside the windows. Perfect choice for this album atmosphere and vibe.
