The lofiles Chocolate Genius interview

October 5th, 2010

I first heard Chocolate genius while watching a great HBO produced film called ‘Everyday people’, where he plays a street musician, and you catch a glimpse of him with an acoustic sitting on a street corner, and at the end of this great little film, he is invited to entertain the gloomy looking guests at this dinner`s closing party ( for further details, please watch the film) and you get a chance to listen to him once more and fully understand what a great singer/ songwriter you have had the opportunity to catch. Special thanks to N.Y. Hadad for the Q`s and the insight… Continue to the full interview

The kitchen classics

September 24th, 2010

This has been film-maker Gregory Page idea, for Tom Brosseau to take a collection of American standards and folk classics and deliver the songs the way only Tom can( listen to previous releases on Fatcat). The latter, together with his singing partner Angela Correa, accompanied with a beautiful finger picked acoustic, clean and gorgeous harmonies, and release it as Les Shelleys on Fatcat. I chose the first track ‘The world is waiting for a sunrise’, so you`ll get a glimpse of this wonderful recording venture. Incredibly, all of these tracks were recorded by Tom and Angela in the former’s LA villa using a minidisc recorder and a battery-powered microphone set up on the kitchen table. The results are a close, intimate set of recordings that bring the listener into that kitchen . A collection of classics from Woody Guthrie to Dylan to Guy Lombardo.

This is what Carbonic is saying on his myspace:…”in times of death, the birds will start churning, they will howl like wolves in the snowy prairies of the north, their feathers will turn charcoal black, they will flap their ash filled wings and start rising, cover the sky, extinct the burning sun above, darkness will linger with the blessing of flight and down there only will forever remain the peaceful silent night for us to dwell in forgotten memories invading our blinking eyes.” Listen to the amazing  Silver_Small

…”I release my stuff through my record label Ghost Woods, but if you don’t know what to do with your money and want to help me, you are welcome. I am also looking for distribution, so any help on that side is very welcome too”…. We would do everything we can to help promote this amazing artist
