Oh Jessica

October 17th, 2012

This is what’s written on the artist section of Jessica Bailiff’s label, Cranky. …”kranky was a bit surprised earlier this year when Jessica Bailiff contacted us and asked if we wanted to preview her new album for possible release. We had no idea she had even been working on an album, let alone had completed one, and we were rewarded with a listen to her most compelling album to date”…Listen via Ad Hoc

Its funny the way CoMa’s photos show a real wide range of personalities, like the transformation of the 2 photos you see here. Maybe that’s just to show you that underneath the dark mask, sound or concept if you will, there is a real tender and sweet person.

If you took off the disguise, you will find…what I have heard while listening to this..

Over the past couple years Woodsman has been Relentlessly touring and honing a sound born in basements and warehouses sprouting from amps and speakers like lichens on the forest floor. “Late last December we began recording sessions for what will later become our 3rd LP. Although this track may not find it’s way onto the record it symbolizes a big change for the band. Aided for the first time by a professional recording studio and the able ears of one Daniel James Schlett the jams came out sounding bigger and more direct. We’re extremely psyched to share what we’ve been working on over the past year. The record is shaping up nicely and we’ll have more for you soon!” – Woodsman

Aches is a twenty-four-year-old British producer and visual artist from Sheffield currently based in Bratislava, Slovakia. His compositions demonstrate a love for collapsing abstract beats, plucked atmospheric guitars and growling bass, as well as traces of field recording. Oneohtrix Point Never, Aphex Twin, Pantha du Prince, Cocteau Twins and Emeralds, with whom he recently shared a stage, are but a few influences you can find carefully woven into the recently released debut EP ‘Fine Tongue‘ and on the forthcoming full length LP. The LP, due to be released in February via Exitab, advances deep dreamy textures and complex sound collages with heavy breathing percussion.
