I have discovered this wonderful artist through a message I just got from an Argentinian friend I have met few years ago in Tel Aviv. Lautaro Feldman is an ultra talented 8 string guitar player/ musician and has a concert coming up with Mariana Paraway, a singer/ songwriter you got to listen to. If you are lucky enough to be catching them while on mini tour, you are not going to be disappointed, I could assure you that much.
Just a late note, a reminder for everyone who reads this right now and is located in the New York area.. be sure to catch Dream folk artists Wilsen tonitght at the Union Pool. Listen to the gorgeous Dusk by this trio headed by singer/songwriter Tasmin Wilson, and head over to see their debut release show at U.P.
Was just listening to Lau Nau‘s gorgeous music on The A&D blog and thought you might enjoy it as well. Some words off her bio section here:
Lau Nau is Finnish artist Laura Naukkarinen. Since the release of her celebrated debut full length ‘Kuutarha‘ on Chicago’s Locust Music in 2005, Lau Nau has enjoyed considerable recognition for her intimate & playful blend of ethnic tinged folk songs with curious & intuitive sounds conjured from familiar and exotic sound sources.
Lau Nau lives with her partner, Antti Tolvi, and their young son Nuutti in the remote countryside on Kemiö Island.
This collection of songs has been curated out of the 300 artists and tracks we have covered throughout the year. This has been more or less my iPod’s most abused playlist, and the magical number that we have come up with, are those songs that have accompanied us for the longest time. Those of you that will dig deeper, will realize that our heart belongs to lofi minimalistic bedroom music and we are always on the search for musicians that succeed in making inspiring music within the limitations of their homes or bedroom and despite of the fact they had no budget . SONG ORDER IS PRETTY MUCH MEANINGLESS, allthough we have placed the artists you are most likely to know at the top spots.
We wish you a Merry Christmas, a Happy Chanukah, a Joyous Kwanzaa, and a Happy New Year…and we hope next year will be as inspiring and rewarding as this one.
…”Last week Richard Swift & i got together for a few days to record these songs in my living room on a 4 track. I hope you enjoy listening to this album as much as we enjoyed making it. It was a very cathartic experience for me. Its my gift to you. Free as a bird, give it to your friends & i hope these songs resonate with you the way they do with me”…This is Jessie Baylin‘s beautiful Pleasure Center EP
God, I love this song. Swedes First Aid Kit have unveiled a video to accompany ‘The Lion’s Roar’. You’ll find it on their album – to be released January 24th and produced by Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes) – which was recorded in Omaha, Nebraska earlier this year. Meanwhile the band continue to tour the States with Lykke Li and Bright Eyes, and if you listen to this track, You’ll understand why they got respectable tour companions like those.
I have been receiving lots of new great tapes from Kerem Miron, an extremely hard working PR lady I have known for awhile now, one of them is Arnon Naor’s, AKA Sun Tailor, an Israeli singer songwriter, who is back in his home land after a long stay in London, where he wrote most of his debut album titled ‘Like the tide’ , and recorded it in a bedroom converted studio. The process took 3 years to finish, produced by Arnon and his brother Udi. My favorite track is Fay.
We love Whistle Peak. We love ‘Wings wont behave’. Their music is childish and mature at the same time. Fell in love with this song first time we listened to it. The single will be released digitally on November 1st. CD/LP will be out on Karate Body records late January.
This is a track that stays with me for awhile, and I dedicate it to N. There is something about his performance, the 60`s feel, and the reverby voice, that makes me forget modern world troubles, such as mobile phones, Emails, SMS`s, car horns, the screwed up music in Kakao (my local coffeeshop/ office), and makes me ease on the gas pedal, and all of a sudden I realize I don’t need to be the smartest, or innovative, or ground breaking, or simply unique, and I can just be another human, like in Buddhism, just one of millions, although could still have a voice of my own. And… no need to delete my words to death. Gold Leaves is a new project of Grant Olsen, half of Seattle folk duo Arthur & Yu. The singer/songwriter hooked up with ‘Papercuts’ Jason Quever to produce this marvelous album.
…”In the woods of Virginia a different age is held, if you walk long enough past the busy highways- if you leave your back door- you can find remnants of this age. The seemingly prehistoric foundation of the South that appears no different from the earth it rests on. Though the Suburbs have taken their claim in this landscape the past refuses to die and on those hot summer evenings I walk with it’s ghosts. We sing songs about the celebration of life in the face of death- for that is what they have taught me and I sing them songs of Man’s passion. At the abandoned house down past the barbecue joint, thats where we meet. If you would like to join us – Welcome In”…MH.
