I know I have abandoned you guys. I admit. Guilty. I mean, I have my excuses, everyone does. I don’t really know if it matters to you, but anyways; Its real hard keeping the flowing work doing this blogging thing day in day out for 5 years. Like Chappo congratulated Lofiles on our 2nd birthday and said; 2 blogging years equals half a lifetime. We had real hard daily struggles during the last few months and still tried to keep up. Today, I feel different. Its like while I was reading the Ann Rice Vampire Lestat book, when he rose from his tomb after many years ..”to the fresh sounds of a rock band”…,. I feel I have risen to the sound of Hot Glass, the one man project Brighton’s Ryan Bal’ch (on various overheated equipment). Especially the title track of I wouldn’t forget’, his lovely EP he has released on Limited edition deep sea blue tape contained in an aqua blue case containing all 5 tracks of the EP, or as a digital download HERE.
Only French can sound so sexy and convince you. This track grab my attention right away. Amelia Rivas met Christian Pinchbeck back in may 2010, since when they’ve been quietly creating some hauntingly fragile songs with a sense of mystery and history that belies their teenage years. Skyscraper” is the new single from London based duo.Elephant’s Skyscraper out on Memphis Industries, U.S Street Date: March 26, 2013.
Julian Lynch has been releasing home-recorded music under his own name since 2008. He has developed a unique style across several releases in the last five years, most fully realized in his newest long-playing project, Lines. Lynch builds Lines upon musically complex and thoughtful compositions without abandoning the accessibility, nuanced timbres, and vivid instrumentation found on his first three LPs. In addition to recording and performing music, Lynch leads a parallel life as a PhD student in Anthropology and Ethnomusicology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Julian’s new album, Lines, will be released by Underwater Peoples Records on March 26, 2013 and you can pre-order it here.
I am so tired. Was sick all day long and didn’t get my daily doze of love today. Tough. Seriously. I was real happy to find a copy of our dear friend Jacob Faurholt new EP titled ‘Geek love is the best love’ in my mailbox. Jacob would remind you of singer/songwriters in the vein of Bonnie Prince Billy, maybe a softer Lou Reed, with a slight melodic Bill Callahan resemblance. I was listening to this record and my favorite off this EP ‘Hiding in the shadows’ few times in a row now and it really brought different perspective to this fucked up day. Grab your free copy HERE
Missiles, alarms go off, actually I got no right to complain. I live in Tel Aviv and get the alarm once or twice a day. The people down south are looking for shelters all day long. Actually its quite funny; A dear friend from Germany wanted to come and visit me after 20 years we hadn’t seen one another. He was concerned about the situation in him he had nothing to worry about…Actually since I have returned from New York haven’t heard an alarm goes off even once. Needless to say, 2 days after he arrives, the alarm goes off and and anexplosion being heard. He wanted to go and do some sightseeing in Jerusalem. My girl had reassured him that nothing ever happens in Jerusalem. 2 hours after he arrives to J the alarm goes off.. This is ‘Good fortune’ by Light Thieves who currently have two tracks for download and a 7″ split vinyl (featuring Reptilian Shapeshifters) available via their bandcamp page. Light Thieves have already begun work on an upcoming EP with a release date to be announced soon!
Love this song….
It is Friday afternoon in Tel Aviv. When the weather is nice like today, those are the coffee shops hours. Fully packed. Only difference from back in the days, when I was a lot younger, that nowdays, everyone seems to be so busy using his smartphone, Laptop, Tablet, totally ignoring his companions. Me too. No exception here…Equipped with my laptop, Smatphone, headphones. Totally isolated from the outside world, listening to the new Sun Glitters single. Man, I love this guy and his sound, so sweet, a perfect balance of the raggedy and pretty..Sun Glitters is releasing a 7″ as part of the Lefse single series. Preorder it HERE.
Sometimes, when you listen to so much new music and artists everyday like we do, you get real tired. You know, trying to discover a leader, someone that sounds unique, like no one else..Its not that I am looking for the next inventor of the wheel, but its nice to hear truly inspiring music or artist. Besides, there are so many great bands out there, which makes it real hard to make a difference. 6 months ago, I have written about a seriously nasty MF, Joel Robert Melton, Who I have discovered while he had won the respectable 2nd spot on the yearly Bandcamp Hunter countdown. I was struck by the originality, by the power of his music, the awesome guitars…The whole thing made me want to go back to my druggie days, smoke a joint or two or ten, lay down, put on headphones, and drift away, to a place where you are able to think again, be creative, and most importantly, feel. Couple of weeks ago when JRM wrote to me telling me about a new track he was completing, I was kinda hesitant, not sure how I should react if the track would not meet the high standards he had created half a year earlier. I got the track ‘Peace Lilly’ (which is the title of a future EP)2 days ago and to tell you the truth…I cant stop listening to it ever since. First of all, this psychedelic piece makes me want to use whatever he is on…Secondly, his guitars, kill me. This beautiful song, is not arranged like your typical verse chorus verse chorus type arrangement. There are 2 hypnotic parts that grow on you from the very first listen. Although real hazy and cloudy, you could tell it is carefully crafted, sounding just the way great music should be made. I am honored to premiere this track and this artist and we really thank him for the inspiration….
