Cloud Seeding

May 30th, 2012

I like this idea behind of Kevin Serra’s Cloud Seeding venture; CS is a music singles project. The project was conceived as a space for collaboration to showcase vocalists he admires. On this second Cloud Seeding single, “Newer Testament,” Serra worked with Baltimore’s Greg Hatem (Tulsa and currently Heart of Hearts.) Greg is finishing up his debut album for his music project Heart of Hearts for a late summer/early fall release. Serra is currently working with other vocalists and collaborating on more tracks for the Cloud Seeding project.

Bridgetown summer batch 2012 – First vinyl release.

May 29th, 2012

“This is a collaborative record of my best friend Jon and I playing songs that we’ve worked on for the past few years. This new batch also has albums from several other friends from all across the country and other buddies outside of the USA as well. This may not be the largest batch of releases on Bridgetown, but these 9 titles took a lot out of me to finally finish and get out there. I hope you enjoy them because these mean a lot to me!”.. Kevin Greenspon on his latest Summer batch, 2012, the first vinyl release on Bridgetown records.

I love his booking strategies:…”For my second USA tour that I’m doing this year, I will be performing across the entire country (except the West coast) over a span of 3 months from July 28 through October 21. I’m going to be playing absolutely everywhere possible; there are even going to be shows in towns with populations under 700 people. If you’d like me to come through, don’t hesitate to email me so I can route your town in now before it’s too late”….

One of my favorites is this guitar instrumental ‘Reframing moment’ by Sparkling wide pressure.

Housewarming

May 19th, 2012

First of all, we want to congratulate theee man..Erik David Hidde, or as we once had called him, the hardest working dude in the business, who is celebrating a fruitful and super creative year with his Housewarming recording venture, who brought us J. Biscuits, Great view of the moon, Birkwin Jersey, Freakish Atlantic and many more. It has been quite a year for Mr. Hidde, and he had found a great way to celebrate; You could hear his quite impressive vocal performance on his latest and one of his best releases so far, coming from Hertford, UK based artist Codae (aka: Matt Mullen), titled ‘Unsaid’, a praiseworthy ambient experimental EP. On ‘Mutual’, you could hear our friend’s vocal. Real impressive.. So once again, Happy Birthday David, and keep on bringing us many more great records.

Socialize in Solitude

May 9th, 2012

This track takes me back to my isolation days…. No, lets refrase, and start at the present, while I am sitting at my regular coffee shop, listening to new tracks, surrounded by freaks like myself, who sit by themselves at the tables, or worse, sitting with a partner, gazing at the small screen in front of them, socializing in solitary… So if we get back to me, I consider the present as my social era! Too Funny!..but back in the days, while I didn’t get the chance to socialize (as in Facebook, Twitter, +1, Linkedin, Soundcloud, Vimeo, Myspace, Bandcamp…etc), I used to put my headphones on, and I am talking back in my parents house, and isolating myself by listening to people that did more drugs than I did. Back to this post subject, I was planning to talk about one hell of a motherfucker, Ezra Buchla, who makes music that encourages you to think, dream, create, or all of the above, and he reminds me of the ability of the prog giants I grew up on, to take me away and enable me a different kind of life.

Ready Country Nimbus LP OUT NOW

May 9th, 2012

Padang Food Tigers make magic happen. This mail from Bathetic records had reached me at a perfect time. While I was busy trying so damn hard to put an end to an extremely stressful day and couldn’t find serenity…. I started to listen to this track they had sent me ‘In my heart I’m already gone’, a perfect title by the way, As for me it means at the moment; …just let go, lean back, let someone else do the struggling… Anyhow, to make long story longer, this awesome little track is off an LP, 33 1/3 as we used to call it, titled ‘Ready Country Nimbus’and this record is real goooood my friends, so listen to the track, watch the video, and buy the damn record HERE

Skin in Circles

May 5th, 2012

How Could you stay on three chords for more than six minutes and still be an innovator? Tell you the truth..If I knew, I would have done the same, but I could assure you its not easy as it might sound, and I really dig ‘Skin in Circles’ from ‘With Endless Fir’e by Ilyas Ahmed, which is his first full-length release since his 2009’s Goner. Over the last couple years, he has released a 12-inch with his Portland buddy Liz Harris (Grouper), a split with Steve Gunn, and a 10-inch called Live At On Land. Now he is premiering the video for this incredible track by art director Julia Blackburn.

Neon Lights

May 5th, 2012

Ira Rat’s last november’s Neon Lushell’s album sounds like the birth of a new and fresh Slim Twig meets The Caretaker meets Zola Jesus Meets Sun Araw, you know, this dark, rough, violent, a passive semi active aggression clearly evident. My favorite track is ‘Cellar Door’, and I really recommend it to all of you, even the sensitive ones. Buy it HERE or HERE
