Vex Ruffin’s music is simple: an untrained punk musician who uses a few basic instruments in uncomplicated ways, he calls the style ‘minimalist.’ Although it may not seem like it upon first listen, Vex’s music is rooted in sampling and hip hop beat-making culture. The SP 303 sampler provides the drums and other sounds, a purchase inspired by Madlib. Another fact that might interest you guys,..”Vex is the first and only artist signed to Stones Throw Records on the strength of an unsolicited demo sent through the mail”…Try your luck as well..

This is King Kahn and his Black Jaspers show, where he demonstrates with this real down to the basics stripped down to a Sex Pistols type shit why he had assumed the kingdom title to himself. This is taken the way a gig like that ought to be taped, one shot, as Lofi as one gets.

Who said one King Kahn is enough? I saw the KK and the BBQ show 2 years ago and could use another one. Not to say Twin Peaks don’t have other qualities, but Natural Villain is like a KK replica, a good one though. This is a great ‘Caroline’. I like these guys.

‘Ghostandthesong’ is Matthias Kanik’s homerecording project released with a split together with Chris Rehm on Dayvan Zombear’s new label DZ tapes. MK is based in Berlin. Trying to put together a live show now experimenting jamming with different musicians, making some acidy psychedelic bluesy neo-surrealistic punkish rock music, some Sun Araw type of environment. Watch out for this brilliant musician cause underneath the hazy screen , he really has something to say. Buy his music HERE

Psychedelic Horseshit are a gloriously messy band rooted in lo-fi punk experimentation, allthough they’ve kept a step ahead of the lo-fi scene by inventing a new sub genre they have christened ‘shitgaze’. Hailing from Colombus, Ohio, the Rust Belt capital MTV described as “ground zero for lo-fi punk, They began using a bunch of battered equipment, recording to four-track cassette, with a cardboard box for a bass drum and junkshop guitars and keyboards. All of a sudden, via a joke reference on their myspace page, ‘shitgaze‘ (the lo-fi genre-term they coined in satire of the early-’90s British shoegaze phenomenon) blew up and found them getting interviewed by MTV as well as being written up everywhere from Spin to NME. In 2010, a limited edition cassette, ‘Acid Tape’ signalled a move towards something more dazed and liquified, increasingly electronic.Signing to FatCat in late 2010, Psychedelic Horseshit‘s debut album for the label, ‘Laced‘, is due out in May 2011. ‘Puff’, the first track of ‘Laced‘, has inspired me to create this graphic scribble, and glued me to my tiny headphones for the last couple of hours or so…

First connotations; Joe Strummer, The Clash, Gogol Bordello & King Kahn. The Black Needles are a rootsy rock trio from distant Sao Paolo and they kick big ass. No Bullshit Rock/ Punk /Grunge /Rockabilly. Gtr, bass & drums, and the guitar sounds like it ought to sound. No wonder the local promoters (Sshaking records) who brought us King Kahn and the BBQ show, were responsible for this awesome gig we saw last night at Levontin 7, took some wild videos, hopefully we`ll share those with you in couple of days. Anyhow, from the very first note I have heard from them, I have drifted back to the ‘London calling’ days, yeah, that right, and last night was a sort of Clash revival night, that`s what they really remind me of, and if those guys will survive the winding road they have chosen, that`s not the last time you heard about them.

Brooklyn based quartet Gunfight! describes their sound as “post-country”, we describe it as fast furious country cowboy punk. Expect heavy guitar riffs, booming rapid-fire drums and howling vocals culminating in a kick-ass EP.” All_you_need
Check out their poster page – awesome
