Its Klaus Von Barrel again

August 24th, 2011

It’s the second time we talk about Klaus Von Barre, the man behind The KVB, and recently Die Jungen . Inspired by the 50s and 60s and still sounds contemporary, something out of a David Lynch movie, or a track Nicolas Cage could cover afterwards in shown in a romantic scene . I really love this album ‘Just a dream’ out now and waiting for you on Bandcamp for a bargain price.

I could go

July 24th, 2010

‘I could go’ by Oberhofer is such a summer anthem mayhem. Electronica, guitars, surf & psychedelia mishmash, and we love it

July 17th, 2010

I have gotten this mail listing good news for this Ohio band, Pomegranates. Talking about their new record, ‘One of us’, which is being released by Afternoon records on October 14th. The band will tour this fall with Colour revolt starting September 15th, and will do a 2 CMJ gig on Oct 21st & 22nd. I have heard a song of theirs, Morroco girl, that I love, although, people write completely different tunes about girls from Morroco, where I come from.

Boom Pam

August 23rd, 2009

The Tel Aviv based band Boom Pam was formed in 2003 and play a mixture of Mediterranean, rock and surf music with 2 electric guitars, a tuba and drums. I call it wedding surf turbo. This band is smoking and u could see them tonight at This great funky place Abraxas playing as part of Kol Hakampus Festivities. In case you dont know, Abraxas is this great bar mostly thanx to the owner, Eddie, who is a music freak, and DJing there on a regular basis, usually on Sunday nights when they got gigs as well. You got to understand the place is so small but packed, and the sound is great. And again, in case you didn’t know, Kol Hakampus is the beat local station ( and a non profit org ) for indie music. Hopefully I`ll have some video action for you after tonight`s show

Surf music and happy hardcore are not among my favorites most of the time. While going through those last local artists pages I found some great surf instrumentals. One belongs to this Israeli dude named Tuchman and from what I gather he plays with “Oy Division” -an alternative Klezmer band as well. From his page I navigated to “The Space Agency”, a duo that does surf a la Tarantino movie stuff
Fender guitars and amps, tremolo, reverb, fuzz, echo. It says “…all music recorded with various tape machines, using experimental analogue recording techniques to capture all vibrations. No computers, samplers or drum loops involved -that`s what thry say and sound like

Free surf – Tuchman
