My music
This section of the Lofiles menu is divided to 2 sub sections. The first one is my music resume that contains music that I have either produced, written, mixed or did all of the above and showcases my New York 80`s alternative projects, The hip hop era, while I was mixing and producing, working as co producer on soul and R&B projects, and later on doing remix work, writing music for film and experimenting with music. My sound is mostly ragged, dirty and is never too “pretty” or over produced, as I had learned during my East coast Hip Hop days while working with the biggest names such as DJ Premier, Easy mo be, Guru, MC Lyte, Lord Finesse, and later on with multi platinum producers such as Troy Taylor & Charles Farrar and Axel Kroell.
The second subsection is music of my closest and dearest friends in New York, music I was afraid you are not going to get a second chance to listen to, some of those indie projects I was a part of or helped create.
Film music – Pieces I have written for a national T.V series in Germany called Soko 5113.
The Characters productions – Multi platinum producers/ writers Troy Taylor and Charles Farrar hired me to add rough street edge to their projects. I have worked exclusively for their production co. for almost 2 years.
UMC`S – Co produced this HIP HOP project on EMI records. Check out these 2 kids from Staten Island.
Gangstarr – Stu Fine from Wild Pitch records brought me a cassette tape of rough beats from a kid called Chris Martin later on known as DJ premier. Then we hooked him up with a Boston rapper named Keith Elam (Guru ) and we did their first albums on Wild Pitch records, later on Chrysalis. I was using my standard setup of 2 S900`s ( Akai samplers ) that I still own, and A classic SP12 Emu drum machine.
MC Lyte – my first Hip Hop records as An engineer/ mixer/ programmer. This extremely talented rapper signed to a Staten Island family label called First Priority, later on Atlantic with those wonderful ragged east coast records
Soldier 3 – My partner Axel Kroell and I started a production team and this one was our first project together. Listen to those beats.
Such – I was part of a duo called Such during the 80`s, together with Charles Gerra, who had died of aids in 1990. Our project has just been released on the Seattle label Dadastic, distributed and sold by Subpop. It is me writing and playing most instruments and Chuck is singing and writing some amazing lyrics.
Shabak S – This project has never been released and was intended to be Shabak`s first album. We had done some rough tracks together but had some disagreements with their management,
Mahleria 1-3 – I was aproached by the Tel Aviv museum to write some experimental pieces based on Mahler`s 5th symphony. There is some rough sampling going on here. I have decided to name it Mahleria. Check out parts 1-3
Solo material – Previously unreleased material for a solo album of mine – I had decided to keep it in the drawer, this is a rough cover for an Israeli song called “When you cry”
RIF – worked with one of the most respected east coast hip hop producers Easy mo bee on this one. Check those real heavy kicks on this vinyl.
Lord Finnesse – Gangstarr brought him in, funky as hell from the Bronx, together with Showbiz, Diamond D. Fatboy Slim took a vocal sample of our record that was to become The Rockafeller skank ( … right about now, the funk soul brother..).
Last stop Baghdad – A project band I had called Fight club that I had done during the 2nd Golf war.
Remixes – Remix work during the last years in N.Y.C. Didn’t approach remixes the common way, took tracks and completely changed the direction.
Hometown – a song I did based on samples of Steve Tibbettes, an experimenral guitar player, where I have used bits and pieces of his song and made a completely new song, and I am singing gibberish vocals on top.
FPM – The First priority music family label kept me busy wotking with The Alliance, MC Lyte, Audio two, Positive K and other artists. This the first track from a compilation of this Staten Island label called Basement flavor.
Black on white – I have started a record label with a friend of mine, and this is the first single we have released. ( Featuring singer Diane Humes )
This sub section contains music of friends of mine in NYC during the 80`s – 90`s. I was involved in some of the projects listed below.
Lizzy mercier descloux: My spiritual mother, dear friend, lover and a great musician, painter, a very wise person. Here are demos that I have found, and songs on vinyl, rare compilations and cassettes.
Frozen concentrate – a wonderful band from New Jersey I have worked with. This is a rehearsal tape. 2 front women, Chris & Tina, lots of percussives.
Such demos – I have found these cassettes while cleaning up my studio – those are song ideas Chuck and I had f.. around with – as the duo we had named Such.
This is the first podcast ever, was recorded on a cassette tape by a musician that lives in Seattle, sent to my ex partner Yoram, and showcases some cool music. Was recorded and narrated by Ben Ireland, the drummer for Sky Cries Mary.
Various projects – Various tracks that were recorded at Such A Sound, my studio in Brooklyn
