See me not
I love dirty beats and scratchy vinyl type sounds. Especially when ancient formats issues are so relevant, after Sony`s announcement last week.. Let`s declare this week as an ‘Analougue revenge week’. Munich based trio, Saroos, consists of 3 musicians/ tech wizards, Florian Zimmer (Jersey), Christoph Brander (Lali Puna, Console), and Max Punktezahl (The Notwist), and their 2nd album, ‘See me not’, is coming out this week on Notwist`s label Alien Transistor (row) and on Anticon (u.s. and japan). I have been listening to the title track, ‘See me not’, an instrumental hip hop type of thing, my favorite so far. This is a hypnotic piece, carried by a slow rough saturated breakbeat , enhanced with the sparse and smart use of odd samples and sounds & ultra distorted guitars. Saroos are bulding it`s tension slowly and while the track never really explodes, it is quite enough to keep you at the edge of your seat.
