Teebs & Rom

Sunday, October 9th, 2011

I wanted to share with you 2 precious gifts; Music from Rom and visuals from Teebs. I probably dont have to introduce Teebs to you, who is a part of the Brainfeeder crew, with Flying Lotus, Daedelus, The Gaslamp Killer, matthewdavid just to name a few. Rom is the beautiful sound of Matt Crum and Roberto Lange. The duo began their music in 2000 as a free improvisational group that would play multiple instruments and record hours of material that would later be reworked on until this incredible piece of music presented here was completed. You could purchase it HERE

A-Lull

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

I have started this first sentence 4 times and scratched it. I guess I have been preoccupied with technical issues that make me restless, cause if there is something I hate is to find myself limited as a result of slow network or internet connection, waiting for a program to respond, or a webpage to appear. I feel stalked by lo tech issues and I have decided to fight it till I have won the bloody battle. In the process I have betrayed my old and faithfull workstation for a shiny silvery hi tech piece of equipment. I am ashamed to admit this step contradicts my lofi status, but hey, what the f….who gives a flying f… if the beneficiary would be Bill Gates or Steve Jobs?? Let`s get back to the main reason we are here.. and listen to Confetti, A Lull`s debut on Mush records that brought us Bibio, Daedelus, Head like a kite, Her space holiday, Lymbyc Systym, all those great artists we wrote about over the last few years..Enjoy ‘Weapons of war’, of Confetti, released April 12th.

Room 205 with Daedelus

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

Incase is pleased to premiere Episode Seven of Room 205 with Daedelus. LA-based electronic musician, Alfred Darlington (a.k.a. Daedelus), will be celebrating his 10-year recording anniversary with the new album, Bespoke, coming out this month on Ninja Tune. Throughout his prolific career Daedelus has released singles and EPs for Brainfeeder, All City, Magical Properties, Alpha Pup Records, Warp and Stones Throw. He’s regarded by many as a producer’s producer and a musician’s musician, frequently collaborating with fellow artists and audiophiles to explore new sounds and techniques in the realm of electronic music.

For his Room 205 episode, Daedelus wanted to re-imagine our space as a Victorian-era séance. So, with a bit of help from director Michael Reich and set designer Tamarra Younis, that’s exactly what he did. With genuine kid-like enthusiasm we present the first installment of Room 205: Episode Seven with Daedelus. “Scaling Snowdon (Slow Climb Version)” is available for audio and video streaming today through Room 205′s virtual home. The second and third installments will be available April 11th and 18th respectively. – Los Angeles – April 4, 2011

Inaugural Festival/NRMAL Takes Over Monterrey, Mexico March 13th

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

The first-ever Festival NRMAL (F/N), organized by NRMAL and Alianza Francesa de Monterrey, is introduced to the world March 13, 2010 in Monterrey, Mexico, on the grounds of the Alianza Francesa de Monterrey during the weekend prior to SXSW. F/N brings a collection of emerging artists and musicians together to showcase their work in a small, intimate setting framed by a Mexican cultural landscape. Four stages with a capacity of 700 people each showcase independent bands on the rise to a young Mexican audience who would otherwise not have the opportunity to see them.
More than 40 international acts are performing, including: Yacht, Daedelus, Banda de Turistas, The Death Set, Nite Jewel, Yellow Fever, Julianna Barwick, Awesome Color, Tyvek, Golden Triangle, White Rainbow, Juiceboxxx, The Keyishe, Poirier, and Toy Selectah. A visual arts portion also characterizes the festival, featuring installations created specifically for the event. In the visual realm, Equipo Plastico from Spain and others take the lead.
The festival is an opportunity for artists and audiences of all nationalities to visit Monterrey, get exposure to Mexican culture, and potentially establish artistic collaborations with the international community. The bands slated for F/N come from countries such as Argentina, Spain and Mexico, just to name a few. F/N also helps position Monterrey as a stopping point within the touring circuits of American and international bands.
USA to Monterrey and Back Again

The close proximity between Monterrey and Austin, roughly 6 hours by bus, presents bands slated for peformances at South by Southwest with the opportunity to appear in the Mexican public’s radar.
On March 12th at 12:00a.m. the festival organizers will be busing down bands from Austin. There will be seats available for media on the bus ride down, for further info contact raul@nrmal.net.

Fans interested in making the trip down from Austin have a few cheap bus options: Autobuses Americanos has daily buses from Austin to Monterrey, and Greyhound has a $99 roundtrip ticket available as well.
Monterrey is the third largest city in Mexico – industrial by profession and artistic by nature. Set in the middle of the desert and surrounded by mountains, it is a hot spot for students and young professionals who enjoy the cultural scene and vibrant nightlife that the city has to offer.
