Boonaroo updates
Saturday, March 6th, 2010Superfly and A.C. Entertainment are proud to announce that the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival has added several artists to the 2010 event, further diversifying a wonderfully eclectic and stellar lineup. Updates include Bonnaroo veterans Ween, Galactic and Umphrey’s McGee as as well as gifted singer/songwriter Brandi Carlisle and the genre- bending, post-punk trio The Gossip. A full list of confirmed acts follows.
The largest and most revered music and camping event in the country, Bonnaroo has elevated the American rock festival to an unprecedented level. The Wall Street Journal called Bonnaroo “one of rock’s best festivals,” continuing to hail that the 2009 lineup “fairly bursts with some of the most gifted acts in rock and pop.” Entertainment Weekly called it “the best of all sonic worlds,” while the New York Times said, “Bonnaroo’s very loose mandate – and a wise one for any festival – is to choose performers who deliver in a live performance, with current hits and studio expertise as lower priorities. One of the pleasures of the festival is that it defies narrowcasting: It’s not an Americana festival, an indie-rock festival, a gathering of 2008-9 hitmakers or anything but what its producers and, presumably, ticket-buyers are happy to hear.” Rolling Stone called Bonnaroo “one of the 50 moments to change the history of rock and roll.”

DR. DOG GEAR UP FOR ANTI- RECORDS DEBUT, ‘SHAME, SHAME’
Monday, January 18th, 2010Dr. Dog is very excited to announce the April 6th release of their Anti- Records debut, ‘Shame, Shame’. As a band that has traditionally built their spirited albums layer by layer in the undisturbed seclusion of their Philadelphia home studio, Dr. Dog realized that they would need to face the challenge of working in a professional studio and enlist the help of an outside producer (Rob Schnapf) if they were to continue their album-by-album evolutionary growth. The end result is the band’s most openly autobiographical release to date and peels back the layers of strings and horns of past albums to emphasize the raw immediacy of a tight unit honing their craft. Beginning January 27th in Troy NY, Dr. Dog will embark on a 10-week national headlining tour to premiere songs from ‘Shame, Shame’.
The stylistic reference points of Dr. Dog remain on ‘Shame, Shame’ but with a darker tone. It’s an album whose themes of doubt, confusion and unanswered questions are soothed by bright harmonies, taut guitar riffs and soaring melodies. From beginning to end, Shame, Shame is a record destined to claim its place on the timeless margins, untouched by modern tastes and content to exist on its own terms. It’s the auspicious sound of Dr. Dog writing their exciting next chapter, one they’ve been working towards since they played their first notes together.

Drug rug
Thursday, December 10th, 2009
..”Thomas Allen and Sarah Cronin met in 2006 while working at the Middle East Club in Cambridge, Ma. After trading secret demos of their own songs, Tommy persuaded Sarah to combine forces. They spent their first date drinking whiskey in bed and playing each other songs on an old guitar. They’ve been inseparable ever since. Several months later, they christened themselves “Drug Rug”.The songs are inspired by the storytelling style of early folk musicians, comic books, campgrounds, funny hats, and the illustrations of Garth Williams. Drug Rug’s S/T debut record, melted hearts and ears, and earned them rave reviews and comparisons to some of rock’s greatest duos. While running the stylistic gamut, from the country duets of Ken and Dolly to the Pet Sound’s harmonies of Brian Wilson, Drug Rug still stays true to their rock n’ roll roots including The Velvet Underground and The Byrds. “Paint The Fence Invisible” displays Tommy & Sarah’s growth as true artists. After touring with both Fiery Furnaces and Dr. Dog, the band’s honed musicianship and lush vocals were laid down on tape with the help of Carter Tanton (Tulsa), Julian Cassanetti & Jeremy Black (ApolloSunshine). The album was recorded primarily in a haunted house located in the Catskill mountains of New York and their hi-fi approach to lo-fi aesthetics were effectively crafted. The result is a different and memorable record by a rock-duo who make their own rules. The magic captured feels both timely and timeless… sometimes at the same time. They believe in the imminent end of the world and will destroy each other with love before the apocalypse”….I love ‘Hanna please’, it reminded me of an old friend`s ex wife, and it made me laugh, but kidding aside, it sounds great. Check it out.
