I guess Melody’s Echo Chamber knows what she is doing, cause from the very first moment when this distorted beat kicks in, you know someone is taking good care of you, might be Kevin Parker of The Tame Impala hall of fame (recorded and mixed by him in Perth and at her grandparents’ beach house in Cavalière in France). I dig this first experience, coming out this fall on the label that brings you another influence of hers, Spiritualized. “Crystallized” will be released on 7″ via Fat Possum later this year. We have been following Trevor Powers aka Youth Lagoon for quite some time.‘The Year of Hibernation‘ by Youth Lagoon is due Sept. 27 on Fat Possum (and on Lefse in Europe), and now with a gorgeous clip to a great song. “Montana” directed by Tyler T Williams.

Oupa (the solo project of Daniel Blumberg of the UK band Yuck) released its debut album,Forget, on Aug. 16 on Fat Possum in the US and in the UK on Blumberg‘s newly launched label, Boiled Egg, on Aug. 15. Forget was recorded in Daniel’s flat in January of this year. The album will be limited to cassette and digital formats only.

A limited edition book of Daniel’s drawings made during the creation of Forget was released on the same day.

This is a collection of naive sounding ballads, simply and sparsely crafted, beautiful acoustic tunes. I used to love straight in your face dry vocals, but on this instance, it would have made this record maybe too intimate and the reverb use is perfect. Unknown mortal orchestra have been on the road all year, sleeping in ditches and running drunkenly from venues when need be, curling ears and turning heads with their intoxicating sound all the way. UMO debut album was released in June on Fat Possum. Its definitely something you should listen to. Especially that chord sequence in ‘Little blu house‘, that makes me smile and think of Donald Fagen and Steely Dan songs. By the way, why did you put this bar up there?
