DAWES CONFIRMS WINTER TOUR.

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

ATO Records is thrilled to announce that Dawes has confirmed a co-headlining winter tour with Cory Chisel and the Wandering Sons. The dates will kick off on February 5th at the Crepe Place in Santa Cruz, CA, and loop around the country, culminating with a show in the band’s hometown of Los Angeles, CA, on March 11th. Today, NPR made the Dawes song, “When You Call My Name” their song of the day.

Dawes has spent the past several months on the road, as they’ve been celebrating the release of their debut record, North Hills. Musician and producer Jonathan Wilson (Elvis Costello, Jenny Lewis) produced the album, which was recorded in his cottage studio. The album was recorded completely live, which led to the raw, beautifully rootsy songs that have gained attention from fellow musicians as well as critics in both America and the UK. Rolling Stone did a “Breaking” feature on the band and proclaimed their songs “authentically vintage.” The magazine also said, “frontman Taylor Goldsmith sings like a less-tortured Richard Manuel while the band backs him up with goose-bump-y CSN-style harmonies.” Daytrotter immediately became a big supporter of Dawes, and hailed, [North Hills is] “hands down one of the finest records of 2009.”

Dawes’ soulful and emotional stage performances have garnered new fans in every city they’ve played in across the country. Each band member brings his own enthusiasm, honesty and palpable commitment to the mission at hand, creating a stage presence that is engaging, charming and charismatic. 2009 proved to be a great first year for Dawes, and 2010 will surely take them to new heights.

barker

Kevin Barker has been all over. He`s spent the last few years touring and recording with artists like Devandra Banhart, Joanna Newsom, Vetiver, Espers, Antony and the Johnsons, just to name a few. During his college days he was fascinated by John Fahey`s finger style picking and started recording under the name Currituck county. He has recorded few albums as CC. On his latest release ‘You and me’, released by ‘Gnomonsong‘, he has assembled an unbelievably talented group of musicians: Pat Sansone(Wilco), Joanna Newsom, Jonathan Wilson(Elvis Costello), Eric Johnson(Shins, Fruit Bats), and old time collaborator Otto Hauser(Espers, Vetiver) and created a beautiful melancholy romantic contemporary country folk album full of golden harmonies, smooth grooves and awesome guitars . Check this guy out and go buy his beautiful album!
