The moon is gone

January 15th, 2011

Sometimes, only sometimes, especially when life gets too complicated, we like listening to pure sweet pop. This rainy afternoon is one of those days, and this song AZ sent me, which was KCRW`s top tune couple of weeks ago, a track by Frenchman Ernest Saint Laurent, a musician/ producer, who started his own label Fluid System in the early 2000`s, a remixer of acts like Zero 7, The Avalanches, Grace Jones, and lately, scoring for TV and movies. The track is called ‘The moon is gone’, good for cloudy nights like this, and you should try to cherish the moment cause we wont be serving more sweets in the near future.

The Books + some xtra reading for ya

December 1st, 2010

Location has always been significant for The Books. The two have now settled with their respective new families north of New York City, and work from their home studios – De Jong from a converted bookstore in New Lebanon, NY, and Zammuto from a converted tractor garage in Readsboro, VT. They meet often in a small office located on the campus of Mass MOCA, the renowned contemporary arts museum in North Adams, MA. Of their new album ‘The way out”, this is ‘Beautiful people’ and a Morning Becomes Eclectic session, Thank you AZ.

Fol Chen to tour with Liars, new music video, plus covers of Prince & Pink Floyd!

January 29th, 2010

Fol Chen had an incredible 2009, with rave reviews of their debut album on Asthmatic Kitty, Part One: John Shade, Your Fortune’s Made. They shot a video with the Laker girls. They covered Prince‘s “The Beautiful Ones” for Spin‘s Purplish Rain compilation and Pink Floyd’s “In The Flesh” for MOJO‘s tribute to The Wall. They hit the airwaves with live performances on the BBC and KCRW‘s Morning Becomes Eclectic and were featured on NPR’s Fresh Air with Terry Gross. They were remixed by many (including Liars) and did remixes of many others (including Junior Vasquez)

So, how do you top that for the new year and the new decade? Well, you start with a tour with the Liars, start work on a new LP and in your free time work with Emmy award winning director, Chris Wilcha to provide folks on a high concept music video shot in India to tide everyone over til the next record.

Watch the longer u wait
