This is about simplicity, naiivity. It`s about poverty. About music as a way of life, of communicating and making friends through music, it is about inspiring Cuba. I have watched Cuba Feliz about 10 times and fell in love with 70 years old street musician Miguel Del Morales, El Gallo, who travels around Cuba with his guitar, making stops at friends, in bars, on the street and playing his buck fifty guitar, all those spontaneous little jam sessions, using his booze and cigarettes stained voice and speaking through these awesome story telling songs. This is the Cuban way of entertaining themselves ( instead of tv`s, computers, cell phones and other gadgets ) “Under the influence” of this wonderful documentary made by Karim Dridi I have tried to make those sketches of Havana.
