We Love Mike Bruno

February 24th, 2012

This is not the first time we cover this Troubadour. I have been listening to Mike Bruno’s magical record again last night for couple of hours. Although it is just an acoustic and a voice, few of his songs leave you numb. The result is powerful, and you feel you’re in float in a different time zone. There are three absolute favorites off this wonderful recordings I wanna share with you. Mike Bruno is a singer-songwriter based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.. 2009 saw the release of the “The Sad Sisters” CD on his own imprint, Marygarden Tapes + Things.

Now signed to Texas-based record label Haute Magie, which gives a proper 12″ vinyl release to the same collection of songs.

Should

March 27th, 2011

Should originated in Austin, Texas, writing, recording, and performing under the name shiFt. Inspired after hearing Lilys In the Presence of Nothing on Slumberland, Marc Ostermeier formed Should together with Tanya Maus and his brother Eric. Their last album, Like a fire without sound will be released in April 2011. A record sounding a bit like Eno`s first solo albums, Another green world, Before and after science, Here come the warm jets, well crafted simple minimalistic tunes. You only hear what should be heard

Turned Tables

M. Jackson

June 4th, 2009

Meshach Jackson`s truth:
All of my childhood friends had criminal records.
We lived together in the house my parents built for them.
They were lost, rejected, abused – until they found my family.
I never knew not knowing them.
Louisiana gave me the weeping open eyes of life.
Texas brought me the struggle and shame of becoming a man.
New York was my home the moment I saw her.
Nashville stretched out her arms to welcome me, though I didn’t want her.
Music, and the Heavenly sound of Gospel choirs and soulful preachers, through it all, has been… mine.
