Insides Union

September 14th, 2012

2 songs I really dig by 2 artists I dig even more are Insides off the excellent Zeros album by Luis Vasquez aka The Soft Moon and Union By Teen Daze ( featuring Frankie Rose )

‘Zeros’ LP/CD/MP3 will be out October 30th (North America) and Nov. 5th (Worldwide).

“The Inner Mansions”, the new album from Teen Daze, will be released on November 6, 2012, on Lefse Records.

Dirty Beaches

September 10th, 2011

David Lynch, Tarantino, Slim Twig, The Soft moon, Elvis, Jim Jarmusch , Uma Thurman, Nicholas Cage, Luis Vasquez,  This album makes me think about all those people, movie scenes, sights and schizophrenia. Check out Alex Zhang Hungtai AKA Dirty Beaches excellent album – ‘Badlands’. Although  its not a new release and its not the first time we write about this dude, we thought  just in case you have slept on it , listen to this and grab it on their Bandcamp. Special thanks to Soren little brothers for recommending this gem to us. The whole record is a blast, by the way..

Imagine Luis Vasquez`s Soft Moon resampled to 8 bit, this is how Dirty Beaches sound like, and we really really dig this..

The Reel Deal

April 5th, 2011

If Louis Vasquez is involved, I got to check it out. We have been Soft moon groupies since day one. Another reason to be curious about this project, is that it`s been released by Knitting Factory records, and I still remember the days while visiting The venue at the original location on Houston street, listening to all those friends and bands, who were part of the extremely active NYC downtown scene, great talents and musicians like Elliott Sharp, Arto Lindsay, John Zorn, Hugo Largo, David Linton, and lots more.

On Lumerians`s ‘Atlanta Brook’, I`m sure you`ll dig the cheesy Vasquez signature, this great vintage organ sound, the hypnotic grooves, and to the whole 70`s hippie psychedelic acidy atmosphere it puts you in. This 5 piece from Oakland sounds real good, and you should head over to the Knitting factory site, and grab a copy of ‘Transmalinnia’.
