Superfly and A.C. Entertainment are proud to announce that the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival has added several artists to the 2010 event, further diversifying a wonderfully eclectic and stellar lineup. Updates include Bonnaroo veterans Ween, Galactic and Umphrey’s McGee as as well as gifted singer/songwriter Brandi Carlisle and the genre- bending, post-punk trio The Gossip. A full list of confirmed acts follows.
The largest and most revered music and camping event in the country, Bonnaroo has elevated the American rock festival to an unprecedented level. The Wall Street Journal called Bonnaroo “one of rock’s best festivals,” continuing to hail that the 2009 lineup “fairly bursts with some of the most gifted acts in rock and pop.” Entertainment Weekly called it “the best of all sonic worlds,” while the New York Times said, “Bonnaroo’s very loose mandate – and a wise one for any festival – is to choose performers who deliver in a live performance, with current hits and studio expertise as lower priorities. One of the pleasures of the festival is that it defies narrowcasting: It’s not an Americana festival, an indie-rock festival, a gathering of 2008-9 hitmakers or anything but what its producers and, presumably, ticket-buyers are happy to hear.” Rolling Stone called Bonnaroo “one of the 50 moments to change the history of rock and roll.”

Alternative rock band Weezer has joined up with TargetCancer, a non-profit organization devoted to helping fund research into rare and lesser-known cancers. The organization has launched a new download series called ‘The Right Track: Tunes To TargetCancer.’ The series features exclusive downloads of new and rare music from Weezer and various other artists. Every month, artists donate unreleased songs for download exclusively on The Right Track. In addition to these exclusive, pay-what-you-wish downloads ($.99 minimum,) The Right Track will sponsor a series of concerts and events, with 100% of proceeds from all of its initiatives going directly to research funding. Donations will bring audiences some of the best new music available today while supporting research at the forefront of cancer treatment.
Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo said, “we jumped at the chance to give an exclusive track for TargetCancer Charity. We feel this is an extremely worthy and urgent cause and are all too happy to help out.”
TargetCancer was founded by Paul Poth, a Boston-based attorney and devout music fan. In 2007, at age 38, Paul was diagnosed with hepatobiliary duct cancer, an extremely rare form of cancer for which no treatment protocol existed. His experience inspired him to create TargetCancer and draw attention to the research and discovery of new courses of cancer treatment.Paul passed away in August 2009 after a two-year battle, but his fight, and his passion, lives on through TargetCancer and The Right Track series.
Weezer fans who purchase the “Tunes to TargetCancer” collection will get unreleased music, behind-the-scenes concert footage and information about events before anyone else, along with contributing to a great cause.
The band’s participation comes on the heels of their latest release, last fall’s Raditude. The result of this collaborative effort is a collection of songs that amplifies Weezer’smusical trademarks- deep-digging pop hooks and raucous rock riffs- while at the same time breaking new ground for the band. Raditude features appearances by Lil’ Wayne, Jermaine Dupri and even a host of traditional Indian musicians. Within these 10 songs lie boundless possibilities and ceaseless excitement, proof that WEEZER remains a band that defies easy summations and can never be taken for granted, a band who has grown as they’ve opened their horizons. With its rollicking communal spirit, Weezer’s latest offering can be viewed as a natural progression from those resulting impromptu jam sessions.
About TargetCancer:
TargetCancer promotes the development of lifesaving treatment protocols for rare cancers. Through fundraising, outreach, and advocacy, TargetCancer supports those living with rare cancers and funds research initiatives at the forefront of cancer treatment – efforts that treat the individual as well as the disease.
